Noisy pipes and leaking taps… No one wants the hassle of substandard plumbing installations. Here is a guide to making sure that you receive a quality installation from a reputable and accredited installer:
1. Accreditation is key
When choosing your plumber, ensure that they are registered with the PIRB (Plumbing Industry Registration Board). and other parties commissioned the PIRB to ensure that the requirements of local authorities, proposed new labour regulations and the Water Services Act is being adhered to. The PIRB is constantly monitoring the performance of its registered members, ensuring that they are conducting services in a safe and acceptable manner. PIRB members agree to work within the code of ethics set out by IOPSA, enabling a set standard across the board.
2. Is the plumber a registered tradesman or practice under a registered company?
It is easier for you to ensure quality work, if the person you are employing to perform your plumbing installation is a registered tradesman or works for a registered company. It will ensure that you are able to act, should there be a fault with your installation.
Your plumbing contractor MUST have insurance. Should an employee of the contractor accidentally cause damage, the company’s insurance should be in place to cover any damage caused. You can request to see the policy in place in case of incidents occurring.
4. Online Reviews
In the current times we are living in, everything is on social media. Investigate the company on Facebook or Hello Peter. Here you would be able to gauge their professionalism and their quality of work. Often companies have Facebook pages where they would post images of their works completed. You can see what their quality of work is from these images.
5. Client Feedback
Request to speak to 2 or 3 of their previous customers. You can ask them about the quality of the work, if there were any problems during or after the installation as well as the experience during the works. Should the client be comfortable to do so, ask if it would be possible to see the completed installation.
