Help Us To Make A Difference In A Child’s Life…

I have a son Adriaan, now 16 years old, who is severely mentally disabled. He has many handicaps including the inability to talk, is unable to take care of himself in any way and has to wear nappies 24 hours a day. He is a smiling, happy little man.

Up until December 2011, we were fortunate enough to have a sponsor which helped me tremendously with school fees (R3000.00 per month paid directly to the school) ) and nappies. I was notified recently that my sponsor, without notification, stopped paying Adriaan’s school fees. This has left me, a single mother, in dire straits. As a single income earner, I am desperate to find assistance in keeping my son in a specialised school for the mentally handicapped namely St Laurence’s Children’s Haven, a Christian, non profit organisation and due to the discontinuation of the funds as mentioned above, an arrears account of R36000.00 is due to this organisation. If I do not find the finance, I will be asked to remove my child from this facility.

It is very difficult for me to have to plead for assistance however I have no other way of ensuring that my child is safe in a specialised facility where his well being is key.

I am employed by Fanel Glassware and have been for the last 18 years. I need the stability and am assured of an income per month. My company, as part of assisting me, covers my Medical Aid contributions, as there is no way that I would be able to afford it.

Any assistance whether in kind or financial towards the welfare and safety of my child, who cannot go unattended at any one time, will be greatly appreciated.
